The Equine Touch was developed in 1997 by Jock Ruddock, one of Europe’s leading specialists in the Bowen technique. After initially transposing Bowen moves from humans to horses, Jock began researching the specific mechanics of equines as well as their energy patterns and emotional armor. By fusing his new discoveries with the insights and knowledge provided by his wife, Ivana, a respected veterinary surgeon and researcher from the Czech Republic, Jock has transformed Equine Touch into a fully independent, internationally recognized, and highly effective modality.

Equine Touch is a non-diagnostic, non-invasive energy and connective soft tissue discipline which works at a complete holistic level. It addresses the equine as a whole through an organized series of gentle, vibrational moves. These moves are performed over specific points in predetermined patterns which are interspersed with waiting periods to allow the equine to recognize and process their effects.

When performed with accuracy, integrity, and intent, ET induces deep relaxation, releasing hypertonic and traumatized muscles, encouraging muscle tone recovery from injury or atrophy, reducing the pain spiral, and assisting in detoxification and lymph drainage. The horse rebalances physically and emotionally and the flow of Ki is stimulated through the meridians, promoting homeostasis, the ideal state in which the animal’s innate healing power is able to work at its maximum potential.

ET is not a substitute for allopathic or complementary medicine, but works in harmony with these disciplines to promote optimum health in the horse.

In May of 2004 I completed my instructor training, becoming the Senior Equine Touch Instructor in the United States. I offer both Level 1 (Beginning) and Level 2 (Advanced) ET courses - check my workshops page for the details on upcoming clinics.
